At school, many teachers focus on explaining the materials. This is understandable especially when the exam is about to come. Teachers will do their best to make sure the student comprehend the subject and get maximum exam result. One thing that should be added is explaining or guiding the student to study. Each student has different characters and that makes them have different study technique toward the same subject. Basically there are three basic study methods that should be applied. Sometimes the students do not have to read thick book if they can recognize and separate the important points and the unimportant. Then, they can focus on the important ones which are expected to be on the exam.

After finding the important topic, the next step is knowing and applying the best study skill methods. Of course, this will be different for each student. One thing for sure, applying proper study method will make the students free from wrong manner and wasting time for something which cannot show good result. Effective study methods will provide good grades. Do not forget the importance of time management. When the time for exam is getting closer, usually students have to do a lot of things. They should be able to chose the important activities and postpone the unimportant. Time and schedule should be set well. If it is possible, they have to read for the same subject more than three times. This will make sure the subject sticks on their mind.

It seems math is the subject that many students dislike. Perhaps it is because math deals with numbers, logical thinking, formula, and calculation. To finish math, students have to think so hard, and all of them make math as less favorite subjects. Actually, loving mathematic can be built as early as possible. There are many fun and attractive study methods which should be explained and practiced. The young children will be interested to look at colorful flash cards and study by memorizing the pictures there. Flash cards can be used to solve addition, subtraction, division, or algebra problem. So, the children do not have to write the answer. They should take the cards to show the correct answers.

Besides, games are commonly chosen as the attractive method to deal with math problem. Some children can act as the sellers, and the others are the cashiers, and customers. That will create the grocery situation. If the children have access to computer once or twice a week, computer can be used as the learning media. There are math programs which allow the children to learn math and improve the computer skills at the same time. With the internet connection, children can study math online. Another fun method is cooking. This can be applied when the students have to learn about measurement. They can weigh and cut the ingredients based on the teachers’ instruction. Finally, teachers and parents are supposed to keep motivating the children to love mathematics.

At school, there is no subject which focuses on explaining the students about the study methods. So, they have to struggle to find the effective methods of study which will suitable with their characteristic. In high school for example, the curriculum does not put the learning methods as the points to be explained to the students. Sometimes, you even do not have to write or read because you have known the spelling and are supposed to memorize them while looking at the computer monitor.

The most important exam in student’s life is SAT. Many students think this is very difficult and compare it with the end of the world. Actually, it is not that difficult. If some students say it is very intimidating, perhaps the problem is about less motivation they have. Students are supposed to support each other. Parents, teachers, tutors should motivate them maximally, so they can reach the best in SAT exam. Another problem is the study method used in preparing the exam. If the method used is not suitable with the student characteristic, the result will not be maximal. This is the basic reason why some students need the tutor help instead of the teachers.A tutor will focus on motivating you and helping you on the items you cannot do well. If you cannot study with large group of student, a tutor is really helpful to guide you. She or he can move so fast or slow based on your difficulty level. So, you do not need to wait for your friends to comprehend a material that you have mastered. On the contrary, there are some students who prefer self study method. This is also good option but they need to push themselves to do something that they do not enjoy doing. Strong motivation is highly needed when you want to study yourself. Then, prepare enough materials and equipment since there will be nobody to help you.

As the teaching equipment, flash cards are simple and easy to make items which can be useful for the students. Usually teachers use them as the part of mathematic or language study method. You can make them yourself by printing or drawing the pictures. In the stationary, you can find set of handmade flash cards or blank cards which you can put the pictures yourself. To teach language, teachers commonly use them to teach vocabulary. Math teachers need them as the equipment to explain shapes. Since the cards are colorful and have various items inside, children will be interested and focus on the lesson. They are eager to know what shape or object will appear next.

During the lesson, you are supposed to set the cards randomly. This will make the student try to remember and more focus. Sometimes, the students forget about the items shown in a card. It is considered normal and it is your duty to give proper clue to help the students. On the students’ side, this method of study is fun and challenging. They are challenged to answer as many question as possible. When they see their friends are able to answer or memorize many words, they will be automatically challenged to achieve more. Indeed, this method cannot be applied for every material, but a few times with flash cards will be so interesting.
